Public FCM provenance research begins and the Analog Lock-In Amplifier Concept Note is presented
## Two public research milestones
On 15 September 2026, KTI signed the public Food Contact Materials Provenance Mapping and Experimental Demonstrator Mandate and presented the first public issue of the Analog Lock-In Amplifier v0.1 Concept Note.
### Food-contact materials provenance as a contribution to society
The new mandate establishes a bounded research project within the PRV Provenance Domain. KTI is undertaking and publishing this work without charge as a contribution to society: the aim is to help make the relationship between scientific knowledge about food-contact chemicals and real material, manufacturing and product decisions more traceable, inspectable and honest.
The project will examine how information from the Food Packaging Forum's FCCdb and FCCprio datasets, used under their applicable licences and with attribution, can be represented as versioned scientific source assertions. It will then test how those assertions may be connected—without conflation—to identifiable industrial claims, evidence, materials, formulation changes, products, batches and substitution events.
The planned work includes source and rights mapping, an experimental provenance model, a small reproducible dataset with clearly synthetic industrial records, a non-production demonstrator, findings and—only if the evidence and later gates support it—preparation of a proposed food-contact-materials provenance sub-standard.
This is research, not a production registry or live verification service. It does not determine that a chemical or product is safe or compliant, claim that a manufacturer used a substance, or imply endorsement by the Food Packaging Forum or another third party. Gate 0 is passed; Gates 1 through 6 remain open.
### Formal public presentation of the Analog Lock-In Amplifier
The ALA Concept Note presents KTI's analog laboratory-demonstrator direction for recovering and measuring weak periodic signals of known frequency and phase when they are obscured by noise. Its publication marks the beginning of the formal public presentation of a line of exploratory and technical work that began in December 2025—approximately nine months of development.
Version 1.2 is the first public issue. It preserves the separate Version 1.1 record dated 9 September 2026 as the evidence used for Gate 0. The note describes the measurement principle, initial 10 kHz mutual-induction demonstration, principal risks and first design direction. The instrument remains a laboratory demonstrator: Gates 1 through 5 are open, and no validated performance, certification, pilot readiness or commercial release is claimed.
Together, these publications make two areas of KTI research publicly legible while keeping evidence, rights, safety, gate and production boundaries explicit.
